ABOUT ME

Teacher and Musician

Phillips graduated from the University of Nevada, Reno in music education, studying saxophone under Mike McMullen and Peter Epstein. He began touring with the band Sol'Jibe and also studied at the National School of Music in Havana, Cuba. In Nevada, Phillips has served as director of the award-winning Wooster High School Bands, has served as sax instructor for TMCC, headed the All-State and Washoe County Jazz Chairs, and directed elementary, middle, and high school honor ensembles. Currently a mentor with guest director appearances for the Reno Jazz Orchestra, Phillips teaches at Bud Beasley Elementary School and is assisting with Sky Ranch Jazz.

Distance Learning

​Here is my lesson to the right. The video is for 1st, 4th, and 5th grades and explains what to do in the video. 1st will watch the video and then the two guitar videos below. 4th and 5th grades will go down below the two handed rhythm and watch the 4 videos from Mongolia, China, Japan, and Korea. Enjoy!
